Dixie Detgen retired after twenty-nine years of teaching in the Buchanan, MI Community Schools. During her tenure as band director, Buchanan bands received consistent Division I ratings at MSBOA sponsored festivals. She has served as an MSBOA adjudicator for over 40 years, judging at Solo & Ensemble and Band & Orchestra Festivals. Mrs. Detgen has presented numerous clinics including presentations at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, WBIC in Seattle, American Band College in Ashland, Oregon, Midwestern Conference on School Music in Ann Arbor. She has lectured for college classes at Vandercook College, Eastern Michigan University, Michigan State University, the Universtiy of Michigan, Western Michigan University, Bethel College, and Andrews University. Dixie was selected "Band Director of the Year" (1996) for the State of Michigan by the membership of MSBOA.
