John T. Madden came to Michigan State University first as a student, where he participated in the MSU Spartan Marching Band. Prior to his appointment as Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Spartan Marching Band, Mr. Madden served as Associate Director of Bands at Rutgers University. He is a frequent guest conductor and clinician throughout the United States and Europe in both concert and marching band settings. Mr. Madden is active on the MSU faculty, where he teaches conducting and marching band methods classes, as well as directs the MSU Symphony Band.
