Andrew Siegel, clarinet

A Michigan State University Distinguished Fellow, Andrew Seigel is a doctoral candidate studying with Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from California State University, Fresno, where he studied with Miles Ishigaki. In 1992, Andrew was one of 12 semi-finalists in the International Clarinet Association's Young Artist Competition. He has continued to compete, winning various musical scholarships and qualifying as a finalist in the Carmel and Coleman International Chamber Music Festivals in 1994 and 1995. In 1997, Andrew won a Fulbright Grant to study at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. He has performed solo and chamber recitals in Hungary, Germany, and Romania.

 

Gretchen Morse, oboe / bassoon

Dr. Morse is an active teacher and performer throughout Michigan. She is Chairperson of Winds at the MSU Community Music School, and has also taught at Olivet, Aquinas and Spring Arbor Colleges. She has been a guest performer/lecturer at Western Carolina University, and Eastern Washington University. Dr. Morse is Principal Oboist with the Jackson Symphony, and Second Oboist and English Hornist with the Greater Lansing Symphony Orchestra.

 

Curtis Olson, trombone

12:10 p.m. - 12:50 p.m.

3:40 p.m. - 4:20 p.m.

Curtis Olson is Professor of Trombone and Chair of the Brass and Percussion Area at MSU.

Mr. Olson has performed with the St. Paul Civic Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Eastman Philharmonia and the Eastman Wind Ensemble, the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Detroit Chamber Winds. He has also performed as a guest soloist with the U.S. Air Force Band and the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C.

 

Philip Sinder, Tuba / Euphonium

2:00 p.m. - 2:40 p.m.

Phil Sinder is Professor of Tuba and Euphonium and a member of the Beaumont Brass at Michigan State University

As a tubist he has performed with the Houston Symphony, Wichita Symphony, Eastman Wind Ensemble, St. Louis Symphony, Keith Brion's New Sousa Band, Brass Band of Battle Creek, and the Lansing Symphony.
