Southshore Concert Band

The Southshore Concert Band was founded in January of 1992 by conductor Dale Reuss as an outlet for adult musicians in the Southwest Michigan area. The band is composed of about 65 non-professional and professional musicians from all walks of life. the membership represents about 15 area communities, primarily from Berrien County.

The stated purpose of the Southshore Concert Band is to have fun creating music together. The band’s concert season begins in early September and continues through early June with abut four concerts performances per year.

Guest conductors for the band have included Kenneth Bloomquist, Richard Suddendorf, Bernie Kuschel, Arnie Lesser, and James Hewitt. Composed David Shaffer was commissioned to compose a work entitled "The Quest" which was premiered under the direction of the composed.

The Southshore Concert Band rehearses once per week on Thursday evenings using the facilities of Bridgman High School in Bridgman, Michigan. Performances take place in the auditorium of the same school system. The band also occasionally performs in other areas of Berrien County.
