West Michigan Concert Winds

Gail A. Miller, conductor

Muskegon, Michigan

The WMCW, formerly the Muskegon Symphonic Band, was founded in the fall of 1979 as a volunteer organization dedicated to performing quality instrumental music for community events. Our members come from the entire West Michigan area including Whitehall, Grand Haven, Freemont, and the greater Muskegon area. The musicians are adult volunteers and students from Muskegon Community College. The Winds rehearse once a week at MCC in order to develop their specific talents and to prepare for performances.

The band has had the honor of performing for Governor Blanchard, Grand Haven’s National Coast Guard, the Freemont Summer Concert Series, Ludington’s Freedom Festival, The Montague Fine Arts Summer Series, Muskegon Community College’s Graduation Ceremonies, and in the of 1996 participated in the Bournemouth Music Festival during our tour of England and Wales

The Winds present a regular series of four concerts during the year. A Fall Concert in October, a Winter or Holiday Spectacular, the First Chair Honors Concert, and a Spring Concert which this year is our Sousa Concert.
