Dexter Community Band
Dexter, Michigan

Bill Gourley, conductor

John Stosick, announcer

The Dexter Community Band has become a source of pride in its community since the first concert 16 years ago. Through the years, the group has performed at many community events; including parades, dedications, and festivals. The annual Halloween and holiday concerts continue to draw standing room only audiences.

The ensemble is under the direction and leadership of Bill Gourley, who is also Director of Music at Chelsea High School. Under Bill's leadership the ensemble has embarked on many new endeavors.

In the summer of 1997 the band hosted the Blasorchester from Steinbach, Germany. This 45 piece wind band and their families were guests in the homes of Dexter band members. The Blasorchester performed numerous concerts in the Detroit area with their most memorable being a joint concert in Dexter's downtown Gazebo.

The Dexter Band recently performed in the new Chelsea High School Auditorium, which was a wonderful acoustical experience. This spring the band is preparing a CD for their personal, friends, and relatives' enjoyment.

The band looks forward to participating in the Fourth Annual Red Cedar Festival of Community Bands.
