Jackson Community Concert Band
Jackson, Michigan

Ronald Douglass, conductor

The Jackson Community Concert Band was formed in 1987 as part of the musical offering at Jackson Community College. Membership includes students attending J.C.C., adult amateur musicians, local music educators, and several talented high school students. The premise of the band is to provide a meaningful experience for all members each week. During the year, the band regularly performs at least four concerts, and also the Spring Commencement exercises at J.C.C. Concerts are performed in the Sheffer Hall in the Potter Center at J.C.C., Jackson Cascades Falls, and at Adrian's Trestle Park. For eight years the band has received a grant from the Jackson Community College Foundation to fund guest artists. This impressive list of artists includes Michigan State University Professors Phil Sinder and Rich Illman, Donald Sinta and H. Dennis Smith from the University of Michigan, Judith Moonert and Johnny Pherigo from Western Michigan University, Willard Zirk from Eastern Michigan University, and Audrejean Heydenberg from Spring Arbor College. In the Spring and Summer performances, soloists from the band's membership are often featured.
