Gretchen Morse
Gretchen Morse is originally from Webster, New York and came to Michigan in 1989 to
study with Daniel Stolpher at Michigan State University, where she
completed both the Master and Doctoral degrees. Dr. Morse is an active
teacher and performer throughout Michigan. She is currently teaching through
MSU's Community Music School, and has also taught at Olivet, Aquinas
and Spring Arbor Colleges. She has been a guest performer/lecturer at
Western Carolina University, and Eastern Washington University. Dr.
Morse is Principal Oboist with the Jackson Symphony, and Second Oboist
and English Hornist with the Greater Lansing Symphony. She has also been
a member of the Westshore and Midland Symphony Orchestras, and has
subbed with many of the other orchestras throughout Michigan. In 1993,
she toured with the American Wind Symphony Orchestra. Outside of
making reeds that play, Gretchen's greatest accomplishment was climbing
a mountain in the Continental Divide - and, of course, coming back down.
