Scott Solkofske

Scott Solkofske is currently pursuing a master's degree in saxophone performance at Michigan State University. Mr. Solkofske serves as the teaching assistant for the MSU saxophone studio and performs frequently with the MSU saxophone quartet, jazz combo, wind symphony, and saxophone ensemble. He studies saxophone with Joe Lulloff, Andrew Speight, and Branford Marsalis. In 1999, he was a finalist in the MSU concerto competition. Mr. Solkofske graduated cum laude from Furman University where he studied with Clifford Leaman. He completed a B.M in music education and received many academic and musical awards, earning him scholarships in both fields. In high school, he held several all-state band chairs and was part of the 1995 Bands of America National Honor Band. Mr. Solkofske performed at the 1999 North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Region Seven Conference at the University of Georgia. He has studied with other saxophonists such as Harvey Pittell, Doug Graham, and Lynn Klock. Solkofske has participated in masterclasses with other renowned musicians such as Keith Lockhart (Conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra), Donald Sinta, Fred Hemke, Bob Spring, Chris Vadala, Wycliffe Gordon, Debra Reichtmeyer, Rodney Whitaker, and John Sampen. Mr. Solkofske continues to assist various high school band programs in Michigan and South Carolina. He is a member of NASA, SCMEA (South Carolina Music Educator's Association), Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education), and Phi Eta Sigma (national academic honor society). He continues to assist various high school band programs throughout the state of South Carolina and Michigan and has been teaching privately for eight years.
