Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 5, 2026

The Meridian Community Band (“MCB,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you provide when you visit our website, www.meridiancommunityband.org (the “Website”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the services that help us operate the Website, and the choices available to you.

By using the Website, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information in several ways.

Information you provide to us

You may voluntarily provide personal information when you:

  • Contact MCB through our contact form;
  • Submit a membership or new-member interest form;
  • Subscribe to the MCB email newsletter;
  • Sign up to receive MCB text messages (SMS);
  • Communicate with us by email or otherwise contact the band;
  • Make a donation or purchase a ticket through a third-party service linked from our Website; or
  • Provide information in connection with another MCB activity or event.

Depending on what you do on the Website, information you provide may include your name, email address, telephone number, mailing information, information about your musical experience, educational or professional information, and the content of your message.

Our new-member interest form may also request information about a musical reference, including that person’s name, position, telephone number, and email address. Please provide another person’s information only when you are authorized to do so.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Website, certain information may be collected automatically by WordPress, our hosting environment, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or other technologies used to operate and understand the Website.

This may include information such as:

  • IP address or approximate location;
  • Browser and device type;
  • Operating system;
  • Pages visited;
  • Date and time of visits;
  • Referring website or page;
  • General information about how you interact with the Website; and
  • Other technical or usage information.

We use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use our Website and to improve its content and functionality. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to measure website interactions.

We also use Google Tag Manager to manage website tags and related technologies. Google Tag Manager is a tag-management system; individual tags deployed through it may collect information for their respective purposes.

MCB does not intentionally send personally identifiable information to Google Analytics.

2. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Website may use cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies are small files stored on your device that can help a website function, remember information, or measure website activity.

Some cookies may be necessary for the Website to function. Others may be associated with analytics or other third-party services.

You can generally control or delete cookies through your web browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some Website functionality or the operation of certain features.

Because MCB currently uses Google Analytics, visitors should be aware that Analytics may use first-party cookies and similar identifiers to measure interactions with the Website.

3. Email Newsletter

MCB offers an email newsletter for people who want to receive information about concerts, band activities, and other MCB news.

Our newsletter is managed using Brevo, a third-party email marketing service.

When you subscribe, we may collect your email address and information associated with your subscription. We use this information to send the communications you requested and to manage our mailing list.

MCB does not sell or rent newsletter subscriber information.

You may unsubscribe from MCB email communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our emails or by contacting us.

Brevo provides tools for managing subscriber consent, preferences, and unsubscribing. We may use those tools to administer our mailing list.

4. Text Messaging (SMS)

MCB may offer text-message (SMS) communications to individuals who choose to receive them. These messages may include concert announcements, event reminders, band news, volunteer opportunities, membership information, or other MCB-related communications.

Our SMS program is managed using Brevo, a third-party communications service.

SMS consent

We send SMS messages only to individuals who have opted in to receive them through an MCB-approved signup or other valid consent process.

Consent to receive MCB text messages is not a condition of purchasing anything, making a donation, becoming a member, or participating in MCB activities.

SMS consent is separate from consent to receive email communications. Signing up for the MCB email newsletter does not automatically subscribe you to MCB text messages.

Information used for SMS

If you subscribe to MCB text messages, we may collect and provide to Brevo information such as:

  • Your name;
  • Your mobile telephone number;
  • Your SMS subscription status;
  • The date, time, and method of your SMS opt-in;
  • Information concerning your SMS preferences or opt-out; and
  • Information necessary to administer the SMS program.

MCB does not sell or rent mobile telephone numbers or SMS opt-in information.

MCB will not share SMS text-message opt-in data or consent information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Brevo processes SMS subscriber information on our behalf to deliver and manage MCB text messages.

SMS frequency and charges

Message frequency may vary depending on MCB activities and events.

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

Unsubscribing from SMS

You can stop receiving MCB text messages at any time by replying STOP to an MCB text message.

You may also contact MCB to request removal from our SMS list.

After opting out, you should no longer receive MCB marketing or informational SMS messages, except for communications that may be necessary to process or confirm your opt-out or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.

For SMS assistance, reply HELP or contact MCB at admin@meridiancommunityband.org.

Brevo automatically processes SMS unsubscribe requests, including STOP requests, for its SMS campaigns.

5. Contact and Membership Forms

If you submit information through an MCB contact or membership-interest form, we use that information to respond to your request, evaluate membership inquiries, communicate with prospective members, and conduct legitimate MCB activities.

Information submitted through a membership-interest form may include musical experience, educational or professional information, and information about a musical reference.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information through our forms unless we specifically request it.

6. Donations and Ticket Purchases

The Website may link to or embed services operated by third parties for donations, ticket purchases, or related transactions.

At present, MCB uses Givebutter for certain ticketing and donation activities.

When you make a donation or purchase through a third-party service, that transaction may be subject to the third party’s own privacy policy and terms of use. MCB does not receive or store all information collected by those services, particularly payment-card information.

We encourage you to review the applicable third-party privacy policy before completing a transaction.

7. Photographs, Videos, and Recordings

MCB’s Website may contain photographs, videos, concert recordings, or other media depicting MCB members, guest performers, volunteers, audience members, or community events.

These materials may be used to document and promote MCB activities, performances, and community involvement.

If you believe that a photograph, video, or other media on the Website presents a privacy or other legitimate concern, please contact us at admin@meridiancommunityband.org and identify the material at issue. We will consider reasonable requests to remove or replace material.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

9. When We Share Information

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate the Website or conduct MCB activities.

These may include providers of:

  • Website hosting and WordPress-related services;
  • Email marketing and communications;
  • SMS/text-message communications;
  • Website analytics;
  • Tag management;

These service providers generally receive information necessary to provide their services.

MCB does not share SMS opt-in data or consent records with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a lawful governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MCB, our members, visitors, or others.

10. Third-Party Websites

The Website contains links to websites operated by other organizations and service providers.

MCB is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, security, or policies of third-party websites.

Once you leave the MCB Website, the privacy policy of the website you visit will apply.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Website is intended for a general audience and is not designed specifically to collect personal information from children under 13.

MCB does not knowingly request or collect personal information from children under 13 through the Website.

If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to MCB without appropriate parental or guardian involvement, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete the information.

12. Data Security

MCB takes reasonable steps to protect information provided to us from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no method of transmitting or storing information electronically is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to or stored by us or our service providers.

13. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate records, to administer MCB activities, or as otherwise required or permitted by law.

Different types of information may be retained for different periods.

SMS consent and opt-out records may be retained as reasonably necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable SMS requirements and to ensure that individuals who have opted out are not inadvertently contacted.

14. Your Choices

Depending on the information involved, you may:

  • Choose not to provide optional information;
  • Unsubscribe from MCB newsletters;
  • Opt out of MCB text messages by replying STOP;
  • Contact us to request correction of inaccurate information;
  • Ask what personal information MCB may have about you;
  • Request deletion of information where appropriate; or
  • Control cookies through your browser settings.

Some information may need to be retained when required for legitimate organizational, legal, accounting, security, SMS-compliance, or other purposes.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

MCB may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Website, services, technology, or legal requirements.

When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date at the beginning of this policy.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
